Documentary film presents a variety of challenges for its makers around the ethics and responsibility of representation. By filming the private life of a person, their world is brought into the public sphere. Depicting challenging subjects in real-world circumstances requires a demanding level of sensitivity and intentionality. The documentarians in this session interrogate their use of images and the impact they might have on reality.
