Through cinematic introspection, a form of expressive therapy exists where image and sound are utilised as a gateway to healing. The practice of filmmaking has a long history in psychology; from its usage in historical and scientific documents to cinema therapy. Through associative images that trace the shifting of violence and its effects, we are brought closer to the protagonists’ inner worlds. The films become the locus of examination and communication of trauma, where the process of healing begins with the opening of a shutter.
