When You Hear the Divine Call
A director, born in the Netherlands, travels to Kenya for a poetical exploration of 'home' for three generations of his family: his uncle, himself and his newborn newphew Genson. After having lived in Europe for more than 25 years, Michael Nyawade decides to return to his beloved Kenya - permanently. Filmmaker Festus Toll follows in his footsteps and investigates with his camera how three different generations of his family apply or experience different concepts of 'home': his uncle, his newly born nephew Genson and himself. Moral issues and the personal quest for identity in an essayistic documentary about a European-African child.
