My Own Landscapes

A former military game designer was spotted in a video game competition organized by the army. Before going to war, he made video game scenarios that prepared soldiers to cultural shocks and healed trauma. Once back from the war, his relationship with his identity, with life and with the video game changed.

Director Biography

Antoine Chapon (1990) is an artist and filmmaker based in Paris (France). He studied Fine Arts, Philosophy and Social Sciences. In 2019, he learned literary Arabic at the Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (Lebanon). In 2021 he is part of the Berlinale Talents programme, the world’s top 200 emerging filmmakers. His works create dynamic links and tensions between cinema, CGI animations and archives. His first film “My Own Landscapes” (2020) won the Award for Best Short Film at Visions du Réel International Film Festival and the Award for Best Short Documentary at Norwegian Short Film Festival. The film was shown at many festivals such as Palm Springs Shortfest and Sundance Film Festival.
