Director Biography

Xóchitl Enríquez Mendoza is a film director, born on April 11, 1991, in El Barrio de la Soledad, Oaxaca, in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. She migrated with her older sister to Puebla when she was eighteen years old. In Puebla she studied film at the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla, and later studied screenwriting at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City. In the CDMX she worked for two important production companies in his professional development and training, Elite Studios MPC and Mirada Films. After producing her short films by region with support from IMCINE; "Franco" (2017) and "La Baláhna”/“Maidenhood” (2020), Xóchitl decides to settle in Oaxaca and develop her debut documentary “My navel’s root".
