Machines are checking and sorting nature in an industrial greenhouse. Cameras enable the robots to do their work. Human hands only intervene to straighten anything that is crooked, plant delicate items or clean the mechanics to ensure things continue to run smoothly. Products must be up to standard so that they are market-ready for the consumer. Only at night, when everything is asleep, does unexpected life move in and take control.
Gerard Ortín Castellví (1988, Barcelona) lives and works in London. His artistic production tackles the problem of contemporary representations of nature as well as the relationships that these have with technology, within the framework of an experimental cinematographic research based on practice. He recently presented his work at LUX (London) and exhibited at the Fundació Joan Miró (Barcelona). His works have been screened in various institutions, such as the Anthology Film Archives in New York, the Zumzeig Cinecooperative in Barcelona, or Numax (Santiago de Compostela). His latest work is the film AGRILOGISTICS (2022), selected at Berlinale.
