Leiden Shorts is looking to fill the following volunteer positions:
HEAD OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND FUNDRAISING
(f/m/x | starting date 1/02/2022 | part-time volunteer with a fee)
We are looking for a financial management and fundraising officer who has a personal vision on fundraising for the creative sector. The fundraiser is able to sustain and grow the annual budget of the festival with a focus on outreach and audience growth. Collaboration with other relevant heads of departments and working closely with the Festival Director is seen as crucial for successful fundraising.
The financial manager/fundraiser can develop budgets independently, using input from other department heads and the Festival Director. Quarterly accounting and cash flow management will also be part of the job.
The chosen candidate will be instrumental in bringing strategic ideas and creative vision to Leiden Shorts in their activities. Candidates must have proven fundraising and budgeting experience for foundations. We support flexible working locations and hours, and welcome applications from under-represented groups.
In this position you will be the main responsible person for financial management and fundraising for the festival, including proposal writing and seeking innovative ways of strengthening the financial resilience of the festival. Currently our main funders are based in the Netherlands, so excellent verbal and written skills in Dutch language are required. You will execute your fundraising activities, as well as creating the annual budget, in close collaboration with department heads and the festival director. Account management and nurturing healthy, fruitful relationships with funders are also part of your responsibilities. You will report to the Festival Director and you are accountable to the Board of Directors, to whom you present your budget and financial overviews twice a year.
• Write yearly proposals to our key funders
• Come up with new opportunities for fundraising: funders, patrons, companies, sponsors, etc.
• Establish an annual budget
• Provide bi-annual financial overviews, in collaboration with the financial officer
• Quarterly accounting
• Cash flow management
• Update funders on festival news, manage relationships with donors, write reports where required

• Able to take decisions, accountable and sense of ownership
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English; with sponsors & partners
Besides a keen interest in the cultural sector, we are looking for someone with:
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising and budgeting;
• Demonstrated innovative skills in fundraising;
• Demonstrated experience working with other teams and/or individuals to develop new ideas
• Desirable: experience working in the arts and culture sector
